Maison Meltem has six independent 33 m² suites, every one of them turned towards the Aegean Sea. They occupy a building separate from the hosts’ villa, partly set into the Cretan hillside. Each opens straight onto its own terrace and infinity pool: the overflow edge stops dead against the horizon, with nothing between it and the open sea. This is the house’s most private and independent room category — you could spend a whole day here without stepping out.

Inside, the king-size bed faces the picture window, beneath a wooden ceiling fan. In the bathroom, a wall-hung white basin and a backlit round mirror stand against a board-formed concrete wall. Bathrobes and a hairdryer are provided. The suite has wifi, individually controlled air conditioning, heating, a minibar, a coffee machine, a kettle and a wardrobe. The walls are soundproofed.

The terracotta terrace has sunbeds and dry-stone walls. Late in the afternoon the sun drops behind the hill and the pool turns orange.

Breakfast is included in the price of the suite and served every morning in the shade of the olive trees, facing the sea — a Cretan and continental buffet, plus a few à la carte options. In the evening Giannis, host and chef of the house, serves a single Cretan set menu on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only, by reservation. There is no lunch service.

The suite gives you the run of the rest of the house: the guests’ pool and its bar, the sunken lounge and its fire pit, the hot tub lower down the grounds, the yoga space facing the open sea, the fitness room open from 8 am to 8 pm and the Finnish sauna, open from October to May on request. Massages can be booked on site, and Starlink wifi reaches every corner of the grounds.

The suite sleeps two adults. The room is available from 3 pm, with check-out before 11 am. Agia Pelagia and its restaurant-lined bay are a few minutes away by car; Heraklion is twenty-five minutes away.
